Counter UAS Effectors – Overview & Considerations
Mitigating rogue drones (UAS) has become one of the most challenging and controversial tasks for anyone concerned with the safety of fixed and even more, of mobile assets. Mitigation schemes are generally composed of several elements: Detection, Identification, Decision to Engage, Engagement and Analysis/Forensics. While the focus of this presentation is on counter UAS effector systems and technologies, i.e. the tools of engagement, effector systems may have more in common with detection and identification schemes than seems obvious. In this presentation we will touch upon all elements of mitigation schemes, and systematically highlight technical interdependencies. This will provide the audience with a broader technical, not to say scientific understanding of kinetic, RF and directed energy “effector” systems and their trade-offs, and will fuel discussions beyond the currently existing threat-scenarios.
